Between the Taksim and Karaköy squares there are about forty
churches. Latin
Catholic churches, Lutherian or Pentecotist temples, Greek and Armenian ones, Assyrian,
Turkish orthodox, Byzantine orthodox, Russian, Bulgarian and Gregorian churches, all the
branches of Christianity are present at Pera !
On Sunday
mornings only, it is possible to participate for a while in several different worships.
The architecture of the churches and other monuments will be also described as well as the
history of the various communities living in the city. |
